A Comprehensive Guide to Frown and Forehead Treatments

Frown lines are commonly referred to as the ’11’ lines which develop between the eyebrows. The frown muscles are frequently used un-knowingly when we are concentrating. Like any other muscle in the body, the more its used, the greater the size and strength which overtime leads to folding of the skin creating lines and wrinkles which deepen further over time.

The same is true for the forehead where there is frequent movement of the skin when smiling and looking surprised. The folding of the skin leads to lines and wrinkles on the forehead developing and then the excess skin not returning to its relaxed wrinkle-free state at rest due to collagen and elastin levels reducing with age.

In the frown and forehead region we avoid the use of dermal fillers. This is due to the risk associated with the treatment.

Preventing lines and wrinkles developing by optimizing skincare products which stimulate collagen and elastin help as an anti-ageing treatment.

ZO Skin Health have a variety of skincare products containing Retinol and Retinoic Acid.

Micrnoeedling treatments such as SkinPen microneedling is a rejuvenation treatment which stimulates a healing process which produces new cells and therefore collagen and elastin to soften lines and wrinkles and prevent the deepening with regular maintenance treatments.

Anti-wrinkle treatments or muscle relaxing injections using botulinum toxin treatments more commonly termed Botox® treatments help relax overused muscles to prevent the folding of the skin, which causes the lines and wrinkles. Treatments to the frown and forehead can be used to create an eyebrow lift when eyes are beginning to look tired, hooded and droopy. Botulinum treatments using Botox® or other brands such as Azzalure® or Bocouture® all require a consultation prior to treatment.
